Wetpour Maintenance

Wetpour Maintenance is the process of looking after the safety surface and making sure it does not become unclean or unsafe. Wet Pour is a very simple surface to maintain and requires far less attention than many other playground surfaces.

To keep Wet Pour clean and free from organic material which can lead to stains, discoloration or other issues, it is best to brush the area regularly to eliminate mud, debris or natural matter from the surface. This will stop the pores of the rubberised wearing course from becoming blocked up and help to ensure that water, air and light can travel through the system. This is especially important if the Wet Pour is located under trees as leaves and other material can often fall onto the surfacing and create this inhibiting skin.

The Science Behind Wetpour: Understanding Material Deterioration

Regular hosing and jet washing of Wet pours is also recommended. This can help to prevent the growth of unwanted weeds, moss and algae which can be a common issue with playground surfaces. It is also a great way to remove any build-up of chewing gum which can be particularly damaging to a safety surface.

If your Wet Pour has been damaged, a quick and cost-effective solution is to have it resurfaced with an overlay. This is known as a wetpour recap and can restore the appearance of your playground to near-new conditions without the need to rip up the existing installation. This is done by adding a new layer of 15 mm over the existing surface and allows for a fresh colour choice should that be desired.
